I should preface this story with the fact that I’m not receiving any compensation for my raving about Gasolina.
I finally hit a point this winter, where I needed a new pair of motorcycle boots. I loved my old Docs, but they were ready to retire.
The “romantic” images of the tall Gasolinas peaked my interest in Cafe Racer magazine, but I wasn’t ready to pull the trigger. All of the examples I had seen were knee-high boots, and I thought they might look a little strange against my 6′ 6″ stature. But after seeing a pair in-person at an event in Baltimore and learning about their custom work, I was sold.
I emailed Ashley from Gasolina, and told him the exact design I wanted – even pulled out the measuring tape and measured my foot length, width and calf circumference. My reworked, one-off variation of the Ton-Up boot cost only $20 extra. With a quick paypal transaction, my money was off to Ashley.
Even with the busy lead up to the Easter holiday, Ashley had my custom boots on my door step – all the way from Mexico – in less than two weeks. The leather is gorgeous, the stitching is top-notch, and the custom fit is awesome. I’m “itching” to road test them. Many thanks to Ashley and his crew!
We’ll be heading north to Baltimore, this weekend – and I’ll be breaking them in. In the meantime, here are some shots of the factory making my boots…
