Ok… I wimped out. I kept my 2 wheeled steed under its rain cover today and took the 4-wheeled cage to Baltimore. Luckily, Jodi Mahardi and Travis Williams did not fear the drizzle and suited up to make the run from Dangerously Delicious Pies to the Fifth Annual Charm City Mods vs Rockers. Our adventurous friend, Laura “Spoffy” Spofford, brought out her 1989 Honda for some puddle jumping, as well.
Alan Feinman, Tim Carter and their entire team put together a top-notch event and this year was no different. I was impressed by the excitement and turn-out, even though the weather was sub-optimal. Great food, great drinks, great music, and great bikes along with fun contests & demos.
The guys from the newly formed conglomerate, 515 Moto were on hand. Jeff of Saint Motor Company was talking up his glowing electric paint jobs. Rich of Lowside Magazine was spreading the word of their amazing new location with retail, metal work and a self-service garage. Jon of Monstercraftsman was showing anyone and everyone how to TIG weld.
The hit was the Slowest Ride Competition. A 50 yard, side-by-side run to see who can be the LAST to hit the finish line without placing a foot on the ground. A stylish “mod” from DC, on his souped up classic scooter, took the trophy. Go Turnbulls DC!
Rumor has it that the winner of the Slow Ride selects the genre of music next year. Will this mean a change from the amazing Rockabilly we enjoy each year?…. stay tuned…
