You wouldn’t think that needlepoint or decorative embroidery could be motorcycle “bad ass,” but Heather Johnson seems to have pulled it off. Her hand sewn “exploding diagrams” look straight out of Haynes Motorcycle Manual and should be on my wall.
Ms. Johnson (no relation) has been accepted to a month-long Artist Residency fellowship at BoxoHOUSE, in Joshua Tree, California. She’s decided to take the motorcycle bad-ass to the next level, by do a solo cross-country road trip on her Triumph Tiger – from New Jersey to Cali.
To raise money for the endeavour, she’s set up a “kickstarter-like” indiegogo page to raise money. At the same time, she’s blogging about the adventure here.
Not sure if her travels bring her through DC – but maybe we can convince her to swing by and share some road stories.
All the best on your travels, Ms. Johnson…
